Drawn Together: Collaborative Mini-Comics workshop

A circle, two dots, and a curved line: how much can a cartoon face express? How much can be said in a word balloon? What can happen between two square panels on a page? Come find out at this workshop!

We invite you to a collaborative mini-comics workshop! Inspired by the work of cartoonist-educators like Lynda Barry, Marek Bennett, and Austin Kleon, this workshop will introduce you to the basics of comic-making as you team up with other participants to create original mini-comics exploring your emotions and memories. 

Note: The workshop will be conducted in English, with opportunities for writing and discussion in English or Romanian.

This workshop is for you if:

• You love to draw…or you haven’t drawn since you were a kid
• You enjoy thinking and talking about your feelings
• You like seeing what happens when different perspectives and imaginations meet
• You like to laugh
• You embrace imperfection
• You want to explore a new form of creative expression

• Fun, interactive activities and thought-provoking discussion prompts
• Pens, paper, markers, and everything else you’ll need to make mini-comics
• A safe, welcoming, encouraging environment for creativity and conversation

About the facilitator: 

Anthony Sorge is an educator, writer, cartoonist, and Education Studio volunteer with twenty years experience teaching English language and literature.
